It may not be there now but the Pittsburgh Steelers defense looks like those Steel Curtain days are coming back. They gave up too many yards on the ground to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4 but the absence of inside linebacker Ryan Shazier had much to do with it. But 1st-round pick Bud Dupree was a part of the solution, not the problem setting the edge.

Setting the edge against the run is something Dupree has done well the whole first quarter of the season. After giving up 191 yards rushing to the Ravens Thursday night, the Steelers have fallen just outside the top 10 against the run. But one thing the Steelers defense could still do even with Shazier’s injury was rush the passer.

The Steelers had five sacks of quarterback Joe Flacco on Thursday and of those, Dupree had none of them. But his presence was felt as he had some hurries and two tackles for losses. A quarter of the way into this season, Dupree has made his impact so far with two sacks and seven tackles for losses.
.
