The No. 1 overall pick will be traded

Earlier this week I put together an article projecting the potential 2016 NFL Draft order which had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 1, the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 2 and the Miami Dolphins at No. 3. The fact all three teams have a young quarterback who they consider their franchise player makes these picks a trade chip.

California’s Jared Goff currently sits atop most media rankings as the top quarterback prospect and potential top-5 pick. The quarterback position always gets a bump in value because of its importance. There are plenty of teams that would love to land a young talent like Goff to lead their franchise.

Quarterback needy teams that could be picking inside the top-10, and thus in striking range to make a trade, will absolutely have Goff on their radar.

Some of those teams include the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins.

If a franchise like Tampa Bay or Miami lands the No. 1 pick they could have a chance to get a haul similar to what the St. Louis Rams received in the Robert Griffin III trade.

Obviously, we are a long way from finalizing the draft order but this is an interesting scenario that could play out.
