Six weeks into the college football season, the 2016 NFL quarterback prospects have separated themselves. Like they say, the cream rises to the top and now, I have only three quarterbacks going in the first round. Big numbers are good but these quarterback prospects need to show certain traits to get picked by an NFL team.
The tangible traits NFL scouts and G.M.s are looking for size, arm strength, accuracy decision-making and awareness. Athleticism is more of a luxury when it comes to the quarterback position but not all that required. Intangible traits they want to see are, leadership, ability to perform in big games, resiliency, and calm under pressure.
Work ethic and ability to learn are the most important traits but that will be evaluated when the teams visit with the players. And while they already knew about the measurables, they’re finding out the intangibles as the quarterbacks have just begun conference play. And I’ve looked the quarterbacks myself and ranked them based on the mix of all their traits.
Turn the page to see who I think my top three is now.
