St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley is showing the NFL that he has some Adrian Peterson in him. Yes, he has a similar combination of vision, acceleration, speed agility and power but that’s not it. He has the ability to bounce back from an ACL tear and tear up the NFL not even a year after.

In Peterson’s 2,ooo-yard season around eight months after his surgery, he averaged 131 yards per game. But that’s in his sixth year in the NFL while Gurley comes in as a rookie after his surgery. That made the Rams, who took him No. 10 0verall, take a more carefull approach with him.

A little over 10 months after Gurley’s surgery, the Rams stuck his toe in the water with six carries in Week 3. Then at the 10.5-month mark, Gurley, in his first start, lit the Arizona Cardinals up for 146 yards on 19 carries. Then the following week against the Green Bay Packers, he followed it up with 159 yards on 30 carries.

I’m more impressed with the last game because 30 carries in a football game is a lot for a man not even a year after surgery. Right now, in his two starts, he’s averaging 150 yards per game and his next game is against the Cleveland Browns, who can’t stop Florida State for running. I don’t expect 150 yards per game for the season but he’s on his way to a good season.

And it will be good enough to show he has some of that Peterson in him!
