Before the season started, Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Michael Thomas wasn’t so highly regarded. But in recent weeks, he has started to creep into the second round of many 2016 NFL Mock Drafts. As a matter of fact, he crept into the No. 2 spot among receivers behind Laquon Treadwell.

The nephew of former No. 1 overall pick and receiver Keyshawn Johnson is a very good-looking prospect. He has 6’3″, 210-pound size, speed, route-running savvy and ability to run after the catch. And above all else as a receiver, Thomas has dependable ball-skills to make whatever type of catch you need. That is a the combination of traits that usually belong to a No. 1 receiver in the NFL. And Thomas looked like just that Saturday, having himself a big game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. On the day, Thomas had five catches for 103 yards, including one for a 50-yard touchdown.

On the season, Thomas has 35 catches for 536 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 15.3 yards per catch with musical chairs at quarterback. But it looks like J.T. Barrett is settling in for good for Ohio State to go down the stretch of the season. So look for more production from Thomas as he continues to try to maintain is No. 2 receiver prospect spot.
