Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon should have gone in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was my No. 3 running back prospect, not far behind Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon. But the Jaguars, who picked fourth in the second round, were happy he was still there and took him.

And after struggling with a groin injury early on, he’s showing why he should have been taken in the first round. At 6’1″, 225 pounds, he has plenty of power to break tackles and get his yards after contact. With that power, he has the vision and patience required of a zone-scheme running back and the burst to hit that hole as it opens.

He also has the wiggle to make you miss in the back field, in the hole, and in the open field. On Sunday, he went up against the Buffalo Bills out in London and must had some extra tea and crumpets before the game. On the day, Yeldon had 115 yards on 20 carries, one of them going for a 28-yard touchdown.

In his first six games this season, he has 406 yards with a touchdown and a 4-yard per carry average. However, he’s come on strong lately, clearing the 100-yard mark in two of his last three games. He didn’t show any lingering affects from the groin injury that kept him out Week 6 so he should only get better from here.

He could mean a few more wins for the Jaguars too.
