6. San Francisco 49ers (2-5)- Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
The San Francisco 49ers have quickly gone from a Super-Bowl contender to a team looking to rebuild. This roster has been depleted by early retirements and players failing to reach their potential. The biggest question mark on this team is at the quarterback position, but there are several other holes on the roster that might be easier to fill.
Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves III is a playmaking cornerback who has a knack for generating turnovers. He excels at sitting back in coverage, reading the quarterback and using his short-area burst to break on the ball. Hargreaves isn’t an imposing physical specimen but makes up for it with his instincts.
California’s Jared Goff would get heavy consideration if he’s on the board when the 49ers pick. With the struggles of Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco is likely to target a quarterback who wins from the pocket rather than with his feet.
