With quarterback Tony Romo still out, the Cowboys need a playmaker in the backfield more than ever. And when healthy, McFadden is just that witht he abilitly to change a game with one run at any given time. On Sunday, McFadden came out of nowhere to run for 152 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries in a loss to the New York Giants.

Where did that come from?

Well, the truth is he showed the Cowboys he had that in him since the preseason with a couple of bursts. But for whatever the reason, the Cowboys treated Randle like an accomplished vet and gave him the starting job. After saying Demaro Murray “left meat on the bone”, (yards on the field) he went on to leave dinner on the table.

And there the Cowboys offense was, stagnant until McFadden brought it to life in that loss Sunday. Now, Dez Bryant is practicing and we’ll see when Romo is back but the kind of performance McFadden will help no matter who’s at quarterback. The NFC East is sill winnable so a shot in the arm until the two superstars get back is necessary.

ESPN’s Todd Archer reported that regardless Joseph Randle’s health, Darren McFadden will start at running back Sunday. McFadden should have been the starter out of camp but this is a good time as Randle is falling off. When he found out his old job was now McFadden’s he left the team’s facility.

And since then he has found out that he will be suspended for conduct detrimental for and off-the-field incident. Cowboys shouldn’t be too panicked right now because you saw you have the good, healthy McFadden. Matt Cassel will do better than what he did Sunday and win a few games for them.

Randy Gregory got worked in a little Sunday so he should be back even more to go with Greg Hardy. And right now, with the Seattle Seahawks offensive line the way it is, they can be had. After that, it’s the Eagles and Buccaneers with Romo possibly returning to practice next week.

The winner of the NFC East won’t have any better than a 9-7 record so the playoffs are very much in reach. Barring any more injuries, the defensive pass rush will be there with McFadden to go with Romo, Bryant and Witten. There’s no limits to what the Cowboys can do when the whole team is together.

They just have to stay afloat these next few games.
