Cooper can succeed
Amari Cooper’s talent and skill set is one the NFL rarely sees anymore in today’s game. These days, you have these big, physical guys that can catch the ball over the defensive back with getting separation. But Cooper is more of the Jerry Rice-Tim Brown type, using blazing quickness and acceleration out of breaks to get separation.
Darrelle Revis has problems with receivers like that just like any corner would because it’s an indefensible skill set. Cooper makes everything look the same at the start of his route so jumping one will be hard for Revis to do. He’s abused almost every other elite corner in the NFL from the preseason to now as it is.
He put Patrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals in a blender then shook him again after he caught the ball for a big gain this preseason. In Week 2, he took Baltimore Raven quarterback Jimmy Smith up top for a 68-yard TD. And in Cleveland in Week 3, Cooper had all but 10 of his 134 yards on Joe Hayden so he can operate on Revis Island.
