No Pass-rush

The Jets got after New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady pretty well but they’re around the bottom of the league in sacks. The Raiders have the second best pass-blocking offensive line in the NFL so that match favors the Raiders. This means under normal circumstances Carr should have plenty of time to wait for receivers to break open.

But head coach Todd Bowles dials up plenty of blitzes in order to get pressure on the quarterback. That will actually be a problem for the Jets because Carr is killing the blitz this year as his biggest improvement over last year. Defensive end Sheldon Richardson only being back for two games could have something to do with their lack of a pass rush.

But still, there’s no real edge-rusher as Richardson, Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams are all interior pass-rushers. However, Raiders left guard Gabe Jackson is playing at Pro Bowl level while center Rodney is an elite center. So the Raiders’s 2nd-best pass-protecting offensive line gets the advantage over Jets’ 4th-worst pass-rush.
