Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo looks like he is on the mend and could be back soon. Wednesday, the Cowboys quarterback participated in individual throwing drills and pat-and-go. It is the first time Romo has seen the practice field since he went down with a broken clavicle in Week 2.

Romo has been on IR designated to return since his Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles. And now, he must remain out until the team faces the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. For Jerry Jones, his teammates, and all Cowboys fans, Romo’s return cannot come soon enough.

Neither Brandon Weeden nor Matt Cassel have been able to win a game for Cowboys since the injury. And poor quarterback play has been the main reason why the Cowboys five lost 5-straight. But the Cowboys still have a shot as their 2-5 record is good for last place but only one game in the loss column out of the first place lead in the NFC East.

The New York Giants are the leader of the NFC East right now with a record of just 4-4. Rediscovered running back Darren McFadden had 29 carries for 152 yards in a 27-20 loss to the Giants a couple of week ago. With 20 carries for 64 yards, McFadden didn’t have that big of a day last week against the Seattle Seahawks

But the Cowboys’ next three games are against the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins. So the hope is that Cassel can manage the game with McFadden running the ball. Rolando McClain, Randy Gregory and Greg Hardy are back on defense for this 3-game non-gauntlet.

So it is possible, if Cassel can muster up a little something, for the Cowboys to go 3-0 before Romo comes back against the Carolina Panthers. Not that the Cowboys are expected to beat the Panthers but Romo will at least be back. The winner of the NFC East will likely have a record of 9-7 or 8-8 so if the Cowboys kind find a way to win the next three, they’ll win the division.

But Cassel has to give the Cowboys more with Dez Bryant back.
