The thought was that the San Diego Chargers put themselves over the top when they drafted Melvin Gordon. The team hasn’t had a go-to running back since LaDainian Tomlinson so quarterback Philip Rivers would finally have help. But nothing has gone according to plan for the 2-7 Chargers this season.

Gordon is averaging 3.6 yards per carry while he’s No. 26 in the NFL in rushing and has no touchdowns. At the start of the season, it looked like Gordon would do well as he had 16 carries for 88 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals. But he has since cooled due to injuries to the offensive line forcing them to shuffle players in and out.

That’s obviously not the fault of Gordon as he has actually flashed receiving ability many questioned coming in. Again, through no fault of his, things just didn’t go right for this Chargers team around him. But you can tell Gordon has it in him to be a star and the Chargers made a good pick.
. RB.
