The New Orleans Saints were ranked No. 29 against the run in 2014 so they took middle linebacker Stephone Anthony No. 31 overall. Much of why they took him so early in the draft is his freaky athletic performance at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine. He also he impressed the Saints with his physicality, instincts and speed at the start of training camp.

And Anthony showing he had the brains to get the defense lined up and in the right play was a plus. But since the season started, he has struggled as the Saints are No. 29 against the run this year. Staying blocked too long and missing tackles have been his main problems as a rookie.

Anthony is a little better against the pass than he is the run but not to the point that is helps their No. 30 ranking. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has been fired so will see if that makes any kind of difference for Anthony. But make no mistake Anthony has been a big part of the problem for the Saints so far.
.
