F-.
When a guard is picked in the first round, particularly in the top five, he should be dominant. But Brandon Scherff isn’t dominant at all as he was actually drafted to play right tackle for the Washington Redskins. He was moved inside because he didn’t have the pass-blocking skills to be a right tackle.

Scherff doesn’t even have the pass blocking skills to be a right guard, where he still struggles with pass protection. And when it comes to run-blocking, he’s decent, leading to a decent rushing attack so far this year. But he certainly isn’t good enough as a run-blocker to make up for how bad he is as a pass-blocker.

His tape last year against Maryland edge-rusher Yannick Ngakue who’s coming up in 2016, should have told the Redskins what they needed to know. Ngakue ran right over the top of him in 2014 for a sack but somehow, he’s a first-round pick in 2015. Unless Scherff becomes an elite guard in the next couple of years, the Redskins have a bust on their hands.
. OL. Washington Redskins. BRANDON SCHERFF
