16. Chicago Bears- Carl Lawson, Edge, Auburn
The Chicago Bears have been one of the surprise teams so far this year. This team is lacking talent in a lot of places but some how they continue to find ways to win. A lot of that has to do with the emergence of young players such as Adrian Amos, Christian Jones, Jeremy Langford and Eddie Goldman.
At this point it’s obvious that the biggest need is to upgrade the pass rush. Pernell McPhee is the only one generating consistent pressure and it has resulted in added blockers to his side of the field.
Auburn’s Carl Lawson is an emerging prospect who has shown the ability to get after the quarterback. He’s a stoutly build defender who features long arms and a good initial burst. Lawson is still developing as a player but he possesses a ton of upside.
The big question in Chicago is what will happen with Jay Cutler. Before this season, it seemed like a forgone conclusion this would be his last year with the Bears. Things have absolutely changed thanks to the obvious connected developed between Cutler and offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
However, the fact remains that Cutler has a history of inconsistent play and is owed big money over the life of his contract. This means that things could quickly change and make adding a quarterback here possible.
