26. Atlanta Falcons- Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida State
Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey is an elite talent who has the potential to be a game changer in the NFL. The problem is that he has yet to establish what position is his best fit. His transition to cornerback has been bumpy and it’s obvious he needs a lot of work.
It’s possible that a team like the Atlanta Falcons pick up Ramsey and move him back to safety. He has the size, range and ball skills to really excel at that position. Atlanta has major need at safety and Dan Quinn would love to get his hands on a talent like Jalen Ramsey.
However, everyone will need to be patient because there will be a steep learning curve. Ramsey has yet to show a great feel in coverage and mainly survives because of his elite athleticism. He’ll need time to learn the position and develop.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the Falcons targeted a wide receiver early in the 2016 draft. Roddy White appears to be finished and teams are focusing all their attention on Julio Jones. Leonard Hankerson has done a solid job as the No. 3 target but that’s his limit.
An explosive athlete like Ohio State’s Michael Thomas would make sense at this point in the draft.
