In-depth Scouting Report

The Peyton Manning situation in Denver will be an interesting story to watch develop. However, no matter how that story ends the Broncos need to improve the talent level along the offensive line. This unit has struggle to both protect the quarterback and open running lanes.

Over my last few mock drafts I’ve matched USC’s Max Tuerk with the Broncos. I’m not going away from that thought process because it’s such a perfect fit. Tuerk is an elite athlete who is the ideal candidate to work in Gary Kubiak’s zone-run scheme.

He brings added value because he’s versatile enough to play any position along the offensive line. Tuerk has lined up at center, guard and offensive tackle while at USC.

While there’s hope for Brock Osweiler it’s far from certain that he will succeed in the NFL. He has seen little action since entering the league so he’s a major unknown. Denver will get a look at Osweiler this weekend against the Chicago Bears which will go along way to determining his future.

A poor showing for Osweiler could force the Broncos to add a quarterback early in the draft. This team is built to win now and won’t be willing to give Osweiler anymore time to develop.
