4. Baltimore Ravens- Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves is a playmaker who is always around the football. He does a great job reading the quarterback and breaking on the football. His ball skills make him a consistent threat to pull down interceptions.
The Baltimore Ravens are going through some uncharted territory in that they’re all but out of the playoff race. Their defense ranks in the bottom half of the league in total yards allowed which includes a No. 26 rank in passing yards allowed per game.
Hargreaves would give the Ravens a reliable cover corner who would fit in nicely opposite Jimmy Smith. Ideally, Baltimore would likely prefer to add a pass rusher but there isn’t a great option at this point in the draft.
I wouldn’t rule out the Ravens taking a long look at a running back like Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott. Baltimore was always at its best when they fielded a strong defense and ground attack. Elliott would give them that every-down back capable of controlling the clock.
The dominance of Todd Gurley has helped show the value of the running back position. Teams will feel safer grabbing a running back early in the 1st round thanks to how Gurley has performed.
