7. Jacksonville Jaguars- Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame

The Jacksonvillle Jaguars offensive line has already surrendered 28 sacks so far this season. This unit’s poor play is having a negative impact on the development of franchise quarterback Blake Bortles. Upgrading the talent along the offensive line will be a top priority for Jacksonville this offseason.

Notre Dame’s Ronnie Stanley would be a great fit in Jacksonville. He’s a well-rounded player who can both open running lanes and protect the quarterback. Stanley is a more physical player than the other 1st-round offensive tackle prospects in this draft.

Jacksonville is showing some signs of improvement, but will only go as far as Bortles can carry them.

The dilemma for Jacksonville is that they still have former No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel in the mix. He has been a disappointment to this point in his career but still possesses upside. Bringing in Stanley completely displaces Joeckel.

Stanley would likely slide in at left tackle with Jermey Parnell on the right side. Joeckel’s value is based on his athleticism and ability to protect the edge. He lacks the power to move inside to guard and succeed.

Jacksonville is showing some signs of overall improvement, but will only go as far as Bortles can carry them. However painful, this might mean moving on from Joeckel for the betterment to the team.
