2016 NFL Mock Draft Version 3.0: Picks #16-1
By jonfox
12. Washington Redskins:Myles Jack, LB/RB UCLA
The Redskins defense is truly horrible. Bad coaching, bad scheme and a lack of talent-even though they’ve spent a ton of money and draft picks on it. Jack should help them no matter what defense they run in 2016.
He is raw, but his athleticism and versatility should make him a good fit in their scheme. At the very least, they have a Joker linebacker to run around the formation.
11. St Louis Rams: Connor Cook, QB Michigan State.
The Foles experiment should cost Jeff Fisher and Les Snead their jobs. With their defensive and offensive lines, they just needed a guy who couldn’t screw things up to succeed. And Foles screwed up.
Cook isn’t the best prospect. He doesn’t seem to have the indescribable “it” factor as a prospect. And in normal year, he’s a 2nd round pick. but in this draft, he’ll be a top 20 pick. If he can just not make mistakes, he’ll be an improvement over Foles.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jack Conklin, OL Michigan State.
This is an admission that Luke Joeckel just isn’t getting the job done. Conklin is his replacement and either Joeckel and slide to the right or slide to another team.
Conklin might be a bit stiff for left tackle, but he’s done well for a program that values quality blindside blocking and you know he’s a good run blocker.
9. Oakland Raiders: Jaylon Smith, LB Notre Dame.
The Raiders still love speed in their players, even if Al Davis is no longer on this mortal coil. And they need a LB in coverage pretty badly.
Smith is a pursuit backer who covers so much ground there appears to be two of him on the field. He’s exactly what they need to allow Mack to attack.
