2016 NFL Mock Draft Version 3.0: Picks #16-1
By jonfox
8. Miami Dolphins: Tre’Davious White, DB LSU.
Miami was hoping that one of Ramsey or Hargreaves fell here, and they might try to deal up for one of them or if Ogbah drops. Stuck in this pick in this scenario, White makes the most sense for them.
He’s a man press CB on a team that needs to disrupt opposing offenses’ timing to maximize Suh and Wake. If there’s a quality pass rushing End here, they probably will take him before White.
7. Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Ramsey, DB Florida State
They love Byron Jones in Dallas but Wilcox and Church just aren’t cutting the mustard for them at Safety. Ramsey can shuttle between free safety and nickelback.
This pick is somewhere between “best player available” and “need.” They need Ramsey but he’s also the most talented player available here.
6. San Francisco 49ers: Paxton Lynch, Qb Memphis
This might be the worst pick of the top 10. Lynch has an impressive live arm and has been very productive against good competition.
He also has poor mechanics and will be asked to be the savior from Day 1 in San Francisco. Thats not a good combination. He needs to sit and re-learn how to step into throws or he’ll be a bust.
5. Detroit Lions: Vernon Hargreaves III, DB Florida
A pure best player available pick, Hargreaves fixes a secondary that’s been leaky for almost a decade. He should allow them to blitz more and start to heal the wounds of the poorly drafting Mayhew did for too long.
Hargreaves is one of the most impressive CB prospects to come out in years. He has amazing skills and ability that you rarely see in NFL vets much less college prospects.
