The Carolina Panthers have an absolute shut-down defense these days. And quarterback Cam Newton is balling out of his mind, winning games without his main outside weapon. Devin Funchess is coming around and Kelvin Benjamin will be back next year.

Then of course, Greg Olsen is killing it from the tight end position. Running back Johnathan Stewart will be over 1,000 yards in the next game or two. If there’s a weakness on this Panthers team, it’s pass-protection and Newton is camouflaging that.

However, left tackle Michael Oher is playing better than anywone could have imagined. Playing with his old offensive line coach from college is doing wonders for him. But the Panthers need more than Oher, they need a right tackle to protect Newton too.

So at No 31 overall, they get a right tackle prospect that has much to like. Newton has hit that point where he’s ready to carry a team all the way. And when you consider the defense and weapons he has coming back, this pick will allow Newton to do his part.
. OT. Texas A&M. Germain Ifedi. 31. player. 87
