2016 NFL Draft Big Board: December Update
By Jon Dove
12. Tre’Davious White, CB, LSU
LSU’s Tre’Davious White is a big and physical cornerback prospect. His size is something NFL teams are targeting when looking at defensive backs. They need corners who can match up with the big-bodied receivers and playmaking tight ends.
White has a knack for fighting through contact without drawing a penalty flag. This is mainly because of his ability to track the football and quickly turn his head. White establishes strong position and makes a case that he has equal right to the football.
This is a corner who fits in either man or zone coverage. However, man coverage would allow White to make the most of his ability. He features good fluidity and overall speed to pair with his size. This allows him to flip his hips and run with the receiver.
White is looking like a mid-1st round prospect which would put him in the mix for teams like the Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders have a big need at the cornerback position where they are still dealing with the lack of development by DJ Hayden. White would provide them with a potential lock-down corner capable of matching up with the likes of Demaryius Thomas and Keenan Allen.
