14. Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
TCU’s Josh Doctson has gained a lot of national attention because of his eye-popping production. A lot of his numbers are thanks to TCU’s wide-open attack, but that doesn’t mean Doctson isn’t an elite talent. This is a smooth receiver who has a knack for delivering big plays.
Doctson is a complete receiver in that he can make plays down the field while also working the underneath routes. He doesn’t have blazing speed but runs with savvy accelerating at the right time. If he’s unable to out-run the defender he just uses his size and leaping ability to attack the football.
TCU’s offense doesn’t provide Doctson an opportunity to run a complicated route tree, but he’s a fluid athlete capable of quickly changing direction. There will be an adjustment period but it shouldn’t take too long for him to expand his route tree.
Doctson would be a nice fit for the Atlanta Falcons or Houston Texans. The Falcons offense has hit a wall this season due in part to the lack of options outside of Julio Jones. Doctson would represent a replacement for Roddy White and allow Leonard Hankerson continue to play the No. 3 receiver spot.
He’d be able to do some damage playing opposite DeAndre Hopkins.
