Monday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins team needs

2016 NFL Draft team needs for the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins.
Tonight’s Monday Night matchup is huge for the Redskins as they have a chance to create some space in the NFC East race. They are in prime position to grab the division title as the New York Giants continue to give games away in the 4th quarter.
Washington’s presence in the playoff race is a bit of a surprise. Heading into the season there were more question marks surrounding this team than answers. The biggest development has been the solid progression of quarterback Kirk Cousins.
His play along with improvements along the offensive line have helped the Redskins provide a lot of surprises this year. However, they still have issues across the roster that need to be addressed in the offseason. The biggest weakness is in the secondary.
Washington could stand to add talent at both cornerback and safety. There are several intriguing prospects at those positions with the likes of USC’s Kevon Seymour and LSU’s Tre’Davouis White as 1st round picks. Upgrading the safety position would represent better value by waiting until the mid-rounds.
The Dallas Cowboys went from Super Bowl contenders in the beginning of the season to in the running to land a top- 5 draft pick. Tony Romo’s injury is being championed as the main reason for the team’s struggles, but other problems on this roster.
Rod Marinelli has done a great job the past two years getting the most out of talent on defense. However, they lack multiple difference makers. The biggest issues come at the linebacker position where someone like Notre Dame’s Jaylon Smith would represent a huge upgrade.
The Cowboys also need to start considering a long-term replacement for Tony Romo. He still has a few years left in the tank, but adding a young developmental quarterback is important to the future. It would also help if the player they add could step in and provide a spark if Romo is injured again.
