For Partying during his bye-week, something that’s not against any league rules, head coach Mike Pettine sat quarterback Johnny Manziel. With regular starter Josh McCown is out for the rest of the season with an injury, he decided to punish Manziel. But let’s keep it 100, Manziel would have been starting if he was Pettine’s pick.

He started Austin Davis because he’d rather have anyone start for him but Manziel. He never wanted Manziel to play and the partying was just an excuse for Pettine to sit Manziel on the bench. After Davis was horrible in a 37-3 home loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, Pettine is forced to start Manziel in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers.

If Pettine had his way, Davis would start again this coming Sunday and not have a single solitary problem with it. The switch to Manziel had to come from the nudge he got from owner Jim Haslam. He cares more about seeing what Manziel can do on the field than if he’s going to keep Pettine as his head coach.

Pettine even admitted this wasn’t a decision that was unified throughout the organization. When asked about it, he told the NFL media, “It’s hard to be at this point. I can’t say we’re all on board 100 percent. People have their own opinions when not going well.”

One of those opinions look could be that Pettine doesn’t need to be the head coach past this season. And Manziel needs to stop drinking and play well in order not to follow him out the door. As Stephen A. Smith said, he just might be drinking because he’s playing for a coach that doesn’t want him.

He has a chance to show the organization who’s right Sunday!
