You would thing that this years NFL Draft prospects would have learned from last year to stay out of trouble. Nebraska and Missouri edge-rushers Randy Gregory and Shane Ray had marijuana related trouble last offseason. This year, before the offseason even starts, we have a couple of interior defensive line prospects having problems.
Ohio State’s Adolphous Washington got himself in trouble by soliciting an under cover or real lady of the night. And not even a week later, we have another defensive tackle prospect is having problems. Ole Miss’ Robert Nkemdiche, one of the top talents in college football, was injured after falling through a hotel window in Atlanta Saturday night.
According to the The Clarion-Ledger through the Atlanta Police Department, Nkemdiche was conscious and breathing when police officers found him. Soon after, he was taken to a local hospital and as of Sunday night, he is in stable condition there.
The report also says, “It appears that the victim broke the window and then walked approximately 15 feet and climbed over a wall and fell approximately 15 feet.” FOX 5 in Atlanta reported Nkemdiche’s fall first and revealed that Nkemdiche suffered multiple cuts in the incident.
The Clarion-Ledger also reported that police found a small amount of what was suspected to be marijuana in the hotel room from which Nkemdiche fell. Before this incident, the 6’4″, 296-pound Nkemdiche was viewed by many as the best interior defensive line prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Ray and Gregory were both originally projected to go in the top-10 of the 2015 NFL Draft. But both of their errors cost the money as Ray fell to No. 21 overall and Gregory fell to the second round. When the offseason workouts and interviews come this offseason, Nkemdiche will have a lot of explaining to do.
