13. New York Giants (6-7)- Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State
The New York Giants are still in the middle of a playoff race with the NFC East title still up for grabs. Obviously, if they win the division their 1st round pick will come much later in the draft. There will be a major difference in the type of prospect available should they pick later than this spot.
New York has had a lot of problems in the back end of the defense—especially at the safety position. They have a solid building block in Landon Collins, but he’s an in-the-box safety who gets exposed in coverage. This is why someone like Ohio State’s Vonn Bell would be an ideal fit.
Bell stands out because of his coverage ability. He’s the type of defender capable of playing centerfield and also dropping down into the slot. Bell also features strong ball skills that allows him to generate turnovers.
The Giants could also look at addressing their lack of a running game. Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams just aren’t getting the job done. Someone like Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott would real provide this offense with a spark.
He’s an every-down back who runs with power, breaks off long runs and contributes in the passing game.
