20. Pittsburgh Steelers (8-5)- Kevon Seymour, CB, USC
The Pittsburgh Steelers are winning games thanks to their offense which is very different from years past. They need the offense to carry the load because the defense has several major problems. The biggest issue is in the secondary where they are allowing 279 yards per game which ranks them 31st in the NFL.
Pittsburgh needs to bring in players to upgrade both the cornerback and safety position. This draft has a few strong options at both positions, but grabbing a cornerback at this point in the draft makes sense. USC’s Kevon Seymour has the talent to step in and make an immediate contribution.
Seymour is a long and athletic cornerback who knows how to use his size. He does a great job attacking the ball at its highest point and winning in jump ball situations. Seymour isn’t afraid to fight through contact and out muscle bigger receivers.
He separates himself from other tall cornerbacks because he also features strong change of direction skills. This is a surprisingly fluid athlete who can stick with quicker receivers and adjust to crisp routes.
Pittsburgh would also have to consider Ohio State’s Vonn Bell if he is still on the board. Bell is a good coverage safety who covers a lot of ground in the back of the end of the defense.
