22. Minnesota Vikings (8-5)- Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
TCU’s Josh Doctson is a productive and big-play wide receiver prospect. He’s capable of making plays all over the field. This is a receiver who will work across the middle, stretch the field and attack the ball in contested situations. He’s a more refined route-runner than most receiver prospects that come out of a spread system.
The Minnesota Vikings need to bring a playmaker like Doctson into the mix. This offense lacks consistency at the receiver position. Teddy Bridgewater has struggled to develop a good relationship with the likes of Mike Wallace, Chris Johnson and Cordarrelle Patterson.
Stefon Diggs has shown promise, but even he has issues in recent weeks. Minnesota must surround Bridgewater with more talent and players capable to make plays on their own.
Doctson fits that mold because of his length and willingness to attack the ball at its highest point. He doesn’t need to be wide open to make a reception. The addition of Doctson would not only help Bridgewater but also Adrian Peterson.
Adding another threat on the outside will pull defenders out of the box and help open things in the running game. As long as Peterson is on the roster, the Vikings will feature a run-heavy attack.
