23. Kansas City Chiefs (8-5)- De’Runnya Wilson, WR, Mississippi State
The Kansas City Chiefs have been one of the bigger surprises this season. They got off to a slow start but are now on a seven-game winning streak. The explosion of their offensive is what sparked the turnaround and caught many off guard.
Despite the improved play on offense, the Chiefs could stand to add a few more playmakers to the mix. They have speed on the outside with Jeremy Maclin but lack size. Mississippi State’s De’Runnya Wilson would fill that need for a bigger target.
Wilson not only possesses height but also has bulk and strength. He knows how to use his size to his advantage by boxing out defenders and high-pointing the football. Wilson has strong hands where he routinely plucks the ball away from his frame.
A pass-catching group featuring Maclin, Wilson and Travis Kelce would really help keep the offensive momentum moving forward.
The Chiefs could also consider using this pick on an offensive lineman. There offensive line has shown major improvements throughout the year, but lacks depth and upside. Someone like Ohio State’s Taylor Decker is a potential target.
Decker is a good athlete who features the foot speed and length to protect the edge.
