8. Miami Dolphins (5-8)- Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
The Miami Dolphins are stuck with Ryan Tannehill who they recently rewarded with a big contract. Unfortunately, Tannehill took a step back this year which played a role in the firing of Joe Philbin and Bill Lazor. Major changes are coming which should include adjusting the offensive philosophy.
Miami needs to commit to running the football and limit the number of decisions that need to be made by Tannehill. I have a hard time seeing Lamar Miller re-signing with the team after several years of poor usage and touches.
Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott would be a nice replacement for Miller and give the Dolphins someone capable of carrying the load. Elliott is a legitimate every-down back who impacts the game in several ways.
He is a powerful runner who finishes by moving the pile. However, he also has excellent quickness and a second gear that allows him to break off long runs. His contributions in the passing game are equally as important.
Elliott is a reliable pass catcher who plucks the ball away from his frame and can pick up yards after the catch. He is also an above-average blocker who isn’t afraid to take on blitzing linebackers or powerful defensive linemen.
