Sam Bradford not commiting to Philadelphia Eagles yet

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded for quarterback Sam Bradford, it seemed like a stop-gap experiment. Head coach Chip knew Nick Foles wasn’t his guy so it was worth seeing what Bradford had. Bradford had only one year left on his contract so the Eagles wouldn’t be stuck with him if it didn’t work out.
But if he could stay healthy and play well in Kelly’s offense, he would definitely be a keeper. Things didn’t start out looking pretty for Bradford, going 1-3 and throwing for six TDs and four INTs. With those numbers, it didn’t seem like Bradford was in the Eagles long-term plans early on.
But Bradford would eventually turn things around and get the Eagles back in the playoff hunt. In his last four games, he’s 3-1 with wins over the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, throwing for six TDs and one INT. After that, of course, Kelly came out and said earlier this week that he wants Bradford in Philadelphia for the long-term.
However, the Eagles don’t get the whole say in this as Bradford is the other part of this equation. And he doesn’t seem to be sold on the idea of staying in Philadelphia long-term just yet. And as he told the Philadelphia voice, making a decision on where he’ll play next isn’t on his radar yet.
Bradford told them, “Obviously, it’s great to hear those things, but I don’t think it really means a whole lot, and it’s not going to change the way I approach things. I’m sure I’ll pay more attention to that stuff in the offseason. That’s a couple of months away. I’m really just worried about these next three weeks, obviously this week against Arizona.”
With the amount of teams needing quarterbacks and the not-so great quality quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft, he’ll have a market. The Cleveland Browns were interested in him his past offseason so look for that to be a factor again. The Rams got the worst end of the trade so they may want him back after seeing him get through a season relatively healthy.
But the Browns are the early favorites here, barring a miraculous finish by Johnny Manziel.
