San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders team needs.
The holiday season is all about giving and spreading joy. Unfortunately, the NFL didn’t follow suit by giving us a dud of a matchup on Christmas Eve. Neither the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders are in the playoff hunt and are just looking to finish off the year.
There are a few exciting players in this game including Philip Rivers, Amari Cooper, Khalil Mack and Derek Carr. These players will provide us with some entertainment but the holes on both rosters might be more apparent.
San Diego needs improvement along the offensive line, defensive line and at linebacker. They have enough holes that they could target the best player available in the 2016 NFL draft and likely fill a need. The Chargers are trending towards a top-5 pick where elite prospects like Ohio State’s Joey Bosa, Ole Miss’ Laremy Tunsil, Notre Dame’s Ronnie Stanley and Jaylon Smith could be available.
Anyone of these prospects would represent an immediate upgrade at their respective positions.
Oakland might not be in the playoff race but they have had a positive season. The development of Cooper, Mack and Carr make for a very bright future. They are just a few pieces away from putting themselves within striking distance in the AFC West.
The biggest area of need for the Raiders is in the secondary. They need a top-notch cornerback, but no also need to address the safety spot with Charles Woodson announcing his retirement.
Some of the potential fits for the Raiders are USC’s Kevon Seymour, LSU’s Tre’Davious White and Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey.
