RB. Syracuse. Jim Brown. '57. player. 53.
In 1957, the Browns selected running back Jim Brown from Syracuse at No. 6 overall. And the Browns ended up getting was the best football player to ever lace them up in the NFL. For those that don’t know about Brown, NFL Films has footage on him and it will show he’s the most dominant football player ever.

At 6’2″, 235 pounds, he was as big and strong as some of the lineman that played when he played. At the same time he was one of the fastest if not the fastest man in the NFL during his stint too. And with that scary combination of speed and power, he had great vision and insticts with the ball in his hands.

He preferred to impose his will on defenders by trucking them but he also had the agility to make them miss. Add the balance he had to the equation here and you had a back that was extremely difficult to get on the ground. So many of his plays looked like rugby scrums he popped out of because of how difficult it was to tackle him.

Brown retired as the NFL all-time leading rusher and is No. 9 now despite how many fewer games he played in. He made the Pro Bowl all nine years of his career and made All-Pro eight times. He also helped the Browns win an NFL Championship on the way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
