Kroenke vs Spanos

Somehow, the people in Southern California believe that Spanos has the votes to move and Kronke doesn’t. But the truth is both owners have enough votes to block the other from moving to LA. Spanos may very well have more individual owners backing him as Kroenke ruffled a few of the owners’ feathers by the way he went about things.

Kroenke bought the land in Inglewood without checking with any of the other owners and declared his intent to move. Spanos was forced to declare his intent to move because he didn’t want to not have a stadium and-or the leverage no team in LA gives him. But Kroenke has some support too as he has the deeper pockets to build a better stadium by himself.

All Kroenke needs is nine votes to block Spanos anyway and that’s likely to happen to make both sides come together. Spanos’ support from the relationships he’s built over the years with the other owners will be for not if he doesn’t drop Davis. As mentioned before, the Raiders will be Spanos’ undoing because the owners don’t want Davis there.

Kroenke shouldn’t be underestimated in this deal because his stadium is a better fit for LA. It’s a dome stadium that has more of the red-carpet feel to it than the plan Davis and Spanos have. The 1999 “Greatest Show on Turf” would have been the perfect team for LA and they duplicating that is his aim.

The owners have asked Kroenke if he was open to another team sharing his stadium because the owners prefer Spanos to team up with him. Plus they know Spanos can’t afford to build a stadium in LA my himself. But despite the fact that Kroenke said yes, Spanos was dead-set against it so everyone may be staying put this year.
