People are actually surprised by this!

Most of the media believed the Indianapolis head coach Chuck Pagano coached his last game for the team already. But against the season-long odds the media put on it, he has a new deal with the team. Colts announced Monday night that they and Pagano came to an agreement on a contract extension.

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the new contract they agreed to is for another four years. Many are surprised because of his well-documented in-fighting with GM Ryan Grigson. His dramatic, “They can’t eat you. They can fire you but they can’t eat you.” comments on NFL network last month could also have formed the opinion he would be gone.

But know one should be surprised because Pagano went to the playoffs the previous three seasons to 2015. He barely missed the playoffs this year, despite starting five different quarterbacks. If anything, Grigson should have been the one to go as he hasn’t done anything special lately.

But Rapoport confirms Grigson will also return after his lengthy meeting throughout the day on Monday. Somehow, the organization believes the relationship between Grigson and Pagano will work. But Grigson has to do a better job of drafting for he and anything associated with the Colts to work.

Think about it!

Pagano barley missed the playoffs with a 40-year old (Matt Hasselbeck) and Josh Freeman starting at quarterack for him.

That’s more of a coach of the year candidate than a coach that should be fired.
