The No. 1 killer of head coaches of NFL franchises are highly drafted quarterbacks gone bad. No matter if the coach, GM, or owner is most, responsible for the pick, that coach better win either way. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine was victim No. 1 of troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Pettine had Manziel forced on him by owner Jimmy Haslam but still, he was fired after the Browns to a step back in his second year with the whistle. That made way for the Browns to hire Hue Jackson as their new head coach and Jackson isn’t trying to be victim No. 2 for Manziel.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday Manziel will soon be out of the picture in Cleveland. It has yet to come out if it will be via trade or release by if I’m in Las Vegas, my money is on release. I guess it’s possible but I can’t even see where the Browns would get a late-round pick for Manziel because of his off-field concerns.

The Browns currently have 2015 starter Josh McCown under contract but he’s unlikely the option. Jackson will likely use their No. 2 overall pick in the draft in 2016 to start over at quarterback. Just like it usually goes, it will likely be new GM, new head coach, new quarterback, especially with and offensive minded head coach.

So has as the door has opened for Jackson, it will close for Manziel in Cleveland. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will get his chance to rehabilitate him and succeed franchise quarterback Tony Romo. And hopefully for Manziel, he makes good on his second chance if he indeed gets it from Jones or anyone.
