What a world the NFL is!

With Trent Baalke as the GM of the San Francisco 49ers, no decent head coaching candidate wants to go there. Jim Harbaugh was fired after taking a losing program to the NFC Championship twice and the Super Bowl once. So they figure they’ll be fired no matter what they do because Baalke wants to make all the decisions.

He doesn’t want a coach with a strong personality that knows what he’s doing to challenge his authority. At the same time, no other NFL team wants Chip Kelly, who just wrecked the Philadelphia Eagles. He took a team that had a lot of talent and reduced it to rubble while bringing in his revolutionary methods.

It wasn’t the revolutionary methods that did him in, it was the fact that he couldn’t deal with players with strong personalities. Good coaches have strong personalities as do good players so letting go of them wasn’t a good idea for either side. A lot of good 49ers players have already retired or went to other teams.

So I guess they’ll start picking players they can turn into droids and program them to just do what they’re asked. But at some point, Kelly and Baalke are going to see things differently and clash on something. Remember, Kelly had full control over football operations with the Eagles so now he has to handle a dictator when he’s used to being one.

But somehow, this is going to work out smoothly, right?

Or is this a chance for each one to prove he can work with others?

Good luck keeping players with all this!
