Surprise!

Okay, maybe not.

Mercurial Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry is going  to enter the 2016 NFL Draft. He did everything he can do in college football so it’s time for him to go up to the next level. Henry rushed for 2,219 yards with 28 touchdowns, recording four 200-yard games against SEC competition.

He has a college career school-record 20 consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah said that Henry drew multiple comparisons to former New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs from NFL executives. Henry’s 158 yards in the CFP title game against Clemson Monday were valuable in Alabama’s 45-40 win.

His 50-yard touchdown run opened the scoring and his 1-yard touchdown run sealed the game. The running back position has been devalued in recent years but when you’re as good as Henry, that shouldn’t be the case. Todd Gurley went in the top 10 with a serious knee injury so a healthy Henry should at least go late in the first round.

At 6’1″, 245-pounds he has power, speed vision and the production to prove he’s not and average running back. Seeing how former Alabama running backs Glen Coffee, Mark Ingram, and Trent Richardson could scare some teams off though. But I wouldn’t hold that against him because he is a different animal than the other Alabama running backs.

As a matter of fact, he’s a different animal from any running back that’s come along in the last 20 years!

He is not the same type of runner Jacobs is at all!
