21. Washington Redskins- Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State

The Washington Redskins solved a very important problem this season when Kirk Cousins emerged as the team’s long-term quarterback. They can now move forward building the roster to complement their quarterback. The first course of action is improving the defensive secondary.

Washington’s defense struggled to shut down the opponents passing attack. They allowed too many big plays as well as had issues getting off the field on third down. This is a team that could use help at both the cornerback and safety position.

Ohio State’s Vonn Bell is one of the top overall defensive backs available in this draft. He’s a coverage safety who can play a strong centerfield as well as drop down in the slot. Bell plays with excellent instincts and shows a knack for creating turnovers.

Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey would represent a higher upside pick but also more risk. He’s someone the Redskins could develop at either cornerback or safety. However, Ramsey is far from a finished product and will have some growing pains early in his career.

Virginia Tech’s Kendall Fuller would be a more pro-ready cornerback that the Redskins could target. He’s a bit undersized but plays with a chip on his shoulder. Fuller is a highly intelligent player and features elite instincts.
