Jaylon is a physical player that doesn’t miss tackles and can run with RBs and TEs in coverage. And his combination of traits often get him compared to former 49ers All-Pro ILB Patrick Willis. Smith is the Tood Gurley of linebackers and he’s expected to make a full recovery from his torn ACL.

So the Raiders, who have former NFL linebackers as their GM and head coach, can’t resist Smith. They have some depth at linebacker so they will be able to withstand not having him right away. But once they get him and Smith back from suspension, the Raiders will have a dominant defense.

The Oakland Raiders had an explosive offense to start the season then fell apart down the stretch. What really fell apart down the stretch for the Raiders were three key offensive players’ bodies. But with better health, some added depth and a new right guard in 2016, the offense will be fine.

Cornerback David Amerson emerged as an up-and-coming player to help the pass defense. OLBs Khalil Mack and Aldon Smith will be there to rush the passer out of what should be the 3-4 front.   So at No. 14 overall, the Raiders select ILB Jaylon Smith, and the defense becomes and elite unit.
