This is the fourth in a series doing a full 2016 mock draft for an individual team. First up is a team that had a chaotic 2015: the Miami Dolphins. As always this is a mock of what I think that the team will do, not what I would do as the team’s decision maker.

1st: MacKensie Alexander, DB Clemson
Nothing too fancy here: the Phins need an outside cover corner that can take on a fast wideout. Jones is a really good cover safety but he can’t do it all. They’d prefer Hargreaves but they’re picking too far down to get him(probably).

2nd: Cody Whitehair, OL Kansas State
The Phins also need offensive line reinforcement, especially inside. Whitehair has ‘nasty interior line blocker’ written all over him. His upside isn’t great but thats not what they’re looking for. The Phins are looking for a starter and he can do that.

3rd: Carl Nassib, DL Penn State
Nassib has first round talent, but teams have concerns about his lack of bulk. There’s no doubting his skill set and drive but he needs to hit the weight room. The Phins don’t have a big need at defensive end or tackle, but they could let him sit or rotate in and out while he develops.

4th: Blake Martinez, LB Stanford
Even if Jelani Jenkins is their starter at MLB, they need functional players at LB even if it’s just depth. Martinez is nothing special. He’s probably a 2 down backer who specializes against the run. But this kind of player is exactly what they need. There were too many Dolphins’ defenders trying to make big plays in 2015 instead of doing their jobs. Martinez will be focused on doing his job.

5th: Jake Coker, QB Alabama
Adam Gase likes Ryan Tannehill, but his leash isn’t unlimited in length in Miami. They can dump that contract in a season if they need to. Coker is an interesting prospect. He played very well in a more pro style offense and could just need time to develop.

6th: Jake McGee, TE Florida
McGee missed just about all of 2015 with multiple broken bones but he’s a very interesting receiving prospect. He has the hands and size to thrive but can he recover from the injury and lack of experience?

7th(from Baltimore): Tyler Johnstone, OL Oregon
Johnson is a project with tools. His athleticism is pretty apparent and he plays with surprising power for a faster blocker. The concern is medically based: he’s torn up his knee twice and was still recovering form in 2015. If he can pass medical checks, he should rise quickly.

7th: Daryl Worley, DB West Virginia
Worley has a big body for a corner and a willingness to gamble. Outside of that, I’m doubtful he can do much else at an NFL level. He’ll have to move to free safety or play a lot of special teams to get time to develop.
