After beating old rivals Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, Peyton Manniing came together with both gentlemen for a share of mutual respect. And it was what Manning said in Belichick’s ear that has football fans across the NFL speculating his future. He said “Hey, listen, this might be my last rodeo. So, it sure has been a pleasure.

And on Thursday, in front of the media, he joked but would give no confirmation on it saying, “What happened to private conversations on the 50-yard line? They just don’t exist anymore. There’s no confirmation on that whatsoever. We are on to Carolina.”

Since then, the media has gone to many of his teammates about it and none have any knowledge of what he’ll do. They even tried his brother, Eli Manning, and he didn’t even know which way his brother is leaning. For those that ran with his conversation with Belichick, the key word he used was might.

The words is and was were not used so he’s simply trying to appreciate what MIGHT be one of his last great moments in the NFL. There’s no way for him to know what he wants for his future before playing one of the biggest games in his career. He may not know for months after the season is over if he wants to continue playing or not.

For as long as he’s played, he would be foolish not to know that he’s at least near the end and consider retiring. And for as good has he still is when healthy, he’d be foolish not to consider coming back. If the Broncos win, GMs and owners usually want to give the main players on the team a chance to defend the title.

Plus when you get paid the amount of money he gets paid to play the world’s greatest game, you have to ride it until the wheels fall off.

It’s not that simple for Peyton Manning
