There has been a lot of speculation lately on Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning retiring. And for now, Manning is tying to think about retirement, instead staying in the moment of the Super Bowl. Broncos GM John Elway, who’s planning the team’s future off this decision, will wait for Manning to make it.

Elway told Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post, “He’s got plenty of time, whatever time he needs. I think it’s never going to be a quick decision. You don’t want it to be. It’s one that’s going to change his life … and it’s always a hard decision, so we’ll give him plenty of time.”

No one understands what this time is like for Manning any more than Elway, a legendary QB himself. And at the same time, he has youngster Brock Osweiler ready to hit free agency pretty soon. So it will be interesting to see how long Elway waits and Manning takes to make that announcement.

Elway himself went out smoothly, not taking too long, ending his relationship with in a good way. That was in stark contrast to how Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers ended their marriage. That was about as drama-filled and ugly as it gets with Favre going to the division rival Minnesota Viking at the very end of his career to stick it to the Packers.

We will soon see how this one ends.
