Peyton Manning to officially announce his retirement
It was already clear that legendary quarterback Peyton Manning wasn’t going back to the Denver Broncos. The only thing there was to wonder is if the team would have to cut Manning or not. But that’s not longer something to wonder about as it was reported on NFL Network that the Super Bowl 50 winner is expected to announce his retirement soon.
In order for him to continue on with the Broncos, he would have had to pass a physical in March 4. It wasn’t likely that he could have done such a thing that soon so that made the decision easier. This is the perfect time for Manning to retire as his body barely made to the finish line of winning his second Super Bowl.
In wining that Super Bowl, he became the first starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. Manning’s awesome career lasted 18 years after being taken No. 1 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 1998. The builder of Lucas Oil Stadium is the NFL’s leader in every relevant passing statistic.
He’s also tied with Brett Favre for the most regular-season wins of any starting quarterback in NFL history. Manning has made 14 Pro Bowls, seven NFL All-Pro Teams and has a record five MVPs. Manning is going out like a legend of his stature is supposed to go out—as a champion.
Congratulations Peyton!
