7. Martavis Bryant

Draft Pick: 2014 Round 4, Pick 118

Labelled “the alien” and “10-Speed” by teammates and coaches, Martavis Bryant exploded onto the national stage and into the hearts of Steeler Nation for his athletic ability. Drafted in the fourth round of 2014, Bryant was praised for being extremely fast for someone of his height, but had questionable hands and needed to do some maturing.

Bryant had a rough training camp in his rookie season, suffering a shoulder sprain and having several key drops during game time. However once he was given time to heal, Bryant made his presence known quickly. In 10 games, Bryant totaled 26 catches for 549 yards and eight touchdowns, giving the Steelers offense a tall deep threat.

Bryant was suspended for the first four games of 2015 for repeated failed drug tests, but after meeting with addiction councilors seems to have his mind focused on his career. Playing in 11 games, Bryant totaled 50 catches, 765 yards and six scores, not counting his acrobatic somersault TD against the Bengals in the playoffs. Known for his effortless speed and big play ability, Bryant has scores of 80, 88 and 94 yards in his two seasons.

Bryant still suffers drops at inopportune times that come from a lack of focus, and he has not yet played an entire 16-game season. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger also had to challenge Bryant to toughen up before the Steelers’ playoff run. If he can improve on those things, as well as becoming a more complete route runner, Bryant could have an amazing career ahead of him.
