This year’s free agency group features some intriguing options at the quarterback position. We could see some real surprises during the NFL free agency period as teams look to fill the most important position on the field. The scenarios below aren’t my guess nor are they based on rumors, but just an example of how crazy things could get.

Brock Osweiler to the Los Angeles Rams– The Rams are heading to a new city and could solve their quarterback problem by throwing a ton of money at Osweiler. While still being a bit of an unknown, Osweiler is a more ready option than what the Rams could get in the draft.

Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Denver Broncos– If the Broncos lose Osweiler via free agency they’ll be looking for a stop gap solution to keep them in the Super Bowl race. Fitzpatrick has his warts but would offer more than Peyton Manning did at the end of last year.

Colin Kaepernick traded to the New York Jets– The Jets liked what they got from Ryan Fitzpatrick last season, but they know he can only carry them so far. They won’t break the bank just to keep him around for another year or two. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey knows how to work with mobile quarterbacks– see Tyler Thigpen.

Houston Texans trade up in the 2016 Draft to grab North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz– I’d love to see Houston be aggressive and sign Kirk Cousins to an offer sheet. However, the more likely course of action is grabbing one of the young draft prospects. Wentz is a physical specimen whose strong arm fits what Bill O’Brien is looking for in a quarterback.

Cleveland Browns draft California’s Jared Goff with the No. 2 overall pick– Hue Jackson has a history of favoring a strong running attack. This makes Goff a good choice to run his offense because of his accuracy and sound decision making.
