Ouch!

After the Denver Broncos somewhat forced the retirement of Peyton Manning to make way for Brock Osweiler, they need to start over at quarterback! That’s because Osweiler has agreed in principle to a contract with the Houston Texans. The new deal is worth $72 million over four years, leaving the Broncos with Trevor Siemian as the only quarterback on the roster.

But at the same time, Elway was still smart not to give that kind of money to a quarterback that has proven nothing. It would be better for the Broncos to go back and beg Manning to come back for one more year. Meanwhile, the Texans were desperate for a quarterback and willing to pay top-dollar to one with only seven starts.

Brian Hoyer, the Texans 2015 starter, actually had a better statistical season then Osweiler did last year. So this deal is scary for a team that has everything it needs but a quarterback to contend. The Texans will have plenty of help for him as former Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller will join him for four years, $26 million and $14 million in guarantees..

Then of course, you have superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins that was already on that offense. And we can’t forget about that Texans defense that will feature defensive lineman J.J. Watt . But Osweiler couldn’t always get it done with the Broncos, being held without a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders.

This is definitely a contract Osweiler has to earn after he signs it!
