I don’t know about you but I’m not very impressed with the class of quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft. And there are a signs that the Cleveland Browns just might agree with me on this one. After trying to make a deal for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, they’ve recently brought Robert Griffin III in for a visit.

R.G.III did leave without signing a contract but that doesn’t mean that it’s all over between the two sides. There is a little over a month left between now and the 2016 NFL Draft so there is time to weigh out all options. Browns head coach Hue Jackson called Griffin “very talented” and likes the way the meeting went.

He told NFL Media’s Steve Wyche, “It was a great meeting. I think he’s obviously a tremendous talent and a great young man. He had a lot of success early in Washington and then things just didn’t work out. Those things happen in the National Football League. But at the same time we are going through our process.

“We are going to be very diligent in what we are doing — trying to make sure that we put the right quarterbacks on our football team and in that quarterback room. And that’s one of my biggest responsibilities and also one of our organization’s biggest responsibilities.”

On the deal for Kaepernick falling through, Jackson said, “I can’t comment on players on other teams. But it is where it is and eventually I think all those things will show itself.”

Cal’s Jared Goff and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz are the Browns’ two best choices in the draft. If either one looked like that guy, there would have been no talks with Kaepernick or R.G.III. So we can easily see why he’s not committed to taking a quarterback next month, saying, “We may draft a quarterback and we may not.”

After seeing what Jackson did with Jason Campbell from 2010-2011, he could certainly make a star out fo R.G.III again! Then the Browns could get the best player available, particularly on defense, to get themselves out of the AFC North cellar. They are in desparate need of and edge-rusher but if the Browns don’t get a quarterback before the draft, the have to draft one.

Stay tuned, we will soon see!
